In this Toolkit, we’ve provided you with many marketing resources to help you spread the word. But that’s just the starting point! Here are some other ideas to build your promotion and help you be successful with Artists Sunday.

Website

Your website is your digital brochure, and it’s important to update your website to show off your new alliance with Artists Sunday.

Create a Landing Page. An easy way to get started is to create a dedicated landing page about your involvement in Artists Sunday. Include what you’re doing, what Artists Sunday is (use the boilerplate from the press release template), and how your audience can support you.

Wear Your Artists Sunday Badge. And wear them proudly! Put your digital badges in the footer of your website and on the landing page that you just created.

Publish a Blog Post. Customize and press “publish” on your templated blog post! This is your announcement to your audience that you are now part of the Artists Sunday movement – and they can be too! Link to the landing page you just created. [Blog post template here]

Events and Virtual Events

Build momentum by creating an event that everyone is excited to participate in!

Build a Team. Part of joining Artists Sunday is participating in the unified rallying cry to promote artists, creators and performers! Connect with artists in your field across the nation or artists right in your community. The possibilities are endless!

Host an Event. No one likes feeling left out. Host an event around your work! It could look like a physical gathering or a virtual showing.

Reconnect With Your Community. If you’ve been silent on social media or in your local community because of the events this year, it’s time to reconnect and step out of the shadows and into the light. Share the great piece(s) you’ve been working on and why you’re excited!

Send Emails with a Calendar Invite to Artists Sunday or Your Event. Send an email to your mailing list with a calendar invite to your event. Email is not dead! If you don’t have an email list, consider getting an email marketing service provider like MailChimp or Constant Contact. Depending on the size of your list, we recommend SendGrid because they offer a free option.

Create an Event on Facebook. Another way to engage your social media audience is to create an event on Facebook through your artist business page, if you have one. If you don’t have one, make one; they’re free. Many art selling sites, like Fine Art America, also have event promotion capabilities that may be an option.

Create a Calendar Listing. Many community websites and blogs have an events listing page or events calendar. Use that to your advantage by adding Artists Sunday and what you’re doing to their calendar.

Social Media

Expand your reach by sprucing up your social media profiles and spreading the word.

Update Your Social Profiles. Update your profiles with your latest logos, work, etc. Include the hashtags #ArtistsSunday and #ShopArt in your bios.

Build Your Following on Social Media. Start publishing content and build your audience. Follow @ArtistsSunday and other artists in your community on your social media platforms. You can also check the Artists Sunday Artists Directory and Partner Directory for a quick follow. Use hashtags in each of your posts. Share your story on Stories (Facebook and Instagram). Comment on other artists’ posts.

Create a Countdown on Instagram. As it gets closer to Artists Sunday, keep your audience’s energy high by posting a countdown!   Use #ArtistsSunday in Your Posts. When posting on social media, use #ArtistsSunday. We want to follow along and share what you’re doing in our networks.

Media

Get in front of your potential audience by aligning with their trusted authorities – media outlets.

Send Press Release to Local Media. Communicate your support for Artists Sunday by using the Press Release Template here and sending your press release to your local media outlets – local magazines, journals, newspapers, news channels.

Get in the Spotlight. Don’t be afraid to get in front of the camera! Talk about what you do, why you do it, and why you joined the Artists Sunday movement. Be sure to let us know when you’re in the spotlight at promotions@artistssunday.com.

Sales

The most unique aspect of Artists Sunday is that we want consumers to transact with professional artists and craftsmen – instead of buying manufactured works at big box retailers. Unfortunately, during the holiday season, the buying public has been conditioned to look for deals and sales. Offering a “sale” or discount may or may not be for you. Our goal in suggesting this is to help bring in not just your current customers but new customers as well.

Offer Special Deals. Consider offering special deals – flash sales, buy one, get…, coupons or discounts, or giveaways. There are a few important things to consider while putting together a promotion: its perceived value (is it a good deal?) and its availability (try to limit how many of a single item a customer can buy – especially if your inventory isn’t high).

  • Flash Sales. For a limited time (from an hour to a couple days), push your audience towards this sale where the prices of almost every item are on sale.
  • Buy One, Get… Increase the dollar amount an average customer spends with a buy one, get… sale. It could be “Buy One, Get One Free” or “Buy One, Get One 50% Off”.
  • Coupons or Discounts. Give exclusive discounts or coupons to your email list or social following.
  • Consider each entry for a high-dollar giveaway to be a low-dollar purchase (e.g. digital print)
