this holiday season

Artists SundayTM is celebrated the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

The day is dedicated to encouraging consumers to shop with artists and give something special, unique, and hand-crafted this holiday season.

There’s perhaps nothing more personal than a gift of the arts

Who we are

We are a nationwide art-shopping movement open to all professional artists, non-profit organizations and municipalities. Participants include 500+ local communities, including arts agencies, cities, counties, state agencies, chambers of commerce, and organizations and almost 4,000+ individual artists.

Our mission is to encourage consumers to shop with their favorite local artists, creators and makers during the holiday season. Artists Sunday takes place the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Nov 28, 2021). Think of it like Black Friday or Small Business Saturday but for the arts. New members are joining daily.

What People Are Saying About Artists Sunday

The American Craft Council is proud to be a partner of Artists Sunday. The promotion of Artists Sunday helped increase our sales by 5x the normal amount for the American Craft Council online gift marketplace called Craft Bash that runs through December 6 and features handmade products from nearly 100 artists. We appreciate the support that the initiative had for artists and we look forward to growing the movement to shop on Artists Sunday to show your support for artists again next year.

Keona Tranby, Director of Marketing & Communications, American Craft Council

“Artists Sunday is tucked in between the big box Black Friday and Cyber Monday to create a meaningful opportunity on the meaningful day. As a shopper, you can buy something handmade that has purpose – the kind of gift that can fill a home much better than something mass produced in a far-away factory.”

Greg Davis, Artist and National Geographic Image Collection photographer

"Colorado is proud to be a part of this nationwide effort to support the creative class. Artists Sunday is a great way to support local artists, celebrate creativity and find unique, meaningful gifts for everyone who appreciates the arts.”

Colorado Creative Industries, Director, Margaret Hunt

“Artists Sunday is a great platform to help artists while also getting consumers focused on how art can make a unique and wonderful gift. But while it centers on one day in November, the benefits for artists becoming part of this network are year-round. Artists Sunday is providing so many great resources and tools that help artists navigate the business side of being an artist. It’s something that is desperately needed at a time in which a lot of artists are struggling.”

Mary Baxter, Deputy Director, Howard County Arts Council in Maryland

"As a visual artist I’m grateful for Artists Sunday’s Promotion ability and enthusiasm. I spend a lot of time marketing and responding to artists’ calls. It’s exciting that Artists Sunday makes my work visible far and wide, and I’m relieved to have this great tool to help me get the word out there. Even as a new organization it’s done so much already to let the world know what we artists offer and they’ve done it professionally! Thankful for the energy and follow through of Artists Sunday."

Gail Baker, Artmaker, Issaquah, Washington, Gailbakerartmaker.com

“Artists Sunday is just a great idea. Most of the artists we work with have had no place to show their work recently. Artists Sunday gives them a nationwide platform to promote their work while getting the public focused on purchasing art to enrich the lives of their family and friends.”

Jim Stevens, Colorado portrait artist and member of Veterans Arts Council

“OneRedmond is proud to be a part of Artists Sunday. Our artists are such a valuable part of our community, our culture, and our economy. It is important that we support our artists every day, but especially on Artists Sunday.”

Kristina Hudson, Executive Director, OneRedmond

"I found out about Artists Sunday from a fellow artist in Houston. Opening my studio during our pandemic has been challenging, so I decided to submit a video. Cynthia was very encouraging when she gave her honest feedback and that's when I decided it was time to create a more professional welcoming video into La Donna Foto new studio in Art District Houston. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in a national effort that will help all artists!"
