Artists FAQ
Artists Sunday is a free national marketing campaign encouraging shoppers to purchase from artists, and give unique, original items as gifts for the holiday season. We provide a free comprehensive marketing toolkit to Artists, enabling them to generate buzz and awareness. We do not take a commission from any artists sales. Read more about the program below or sign up here.
Artists Sunday is a unified rallying cry, a national movement & marketing message, uniting individual artists and communities across the country in a singular effort. A vocal voice of 1,000’s across the country. All promoting the giving of artist-created gifts during the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
We are a national marketing campaign supported by Artists, non-profit organizations (Partners) and sponsors from across the country, all encouraging shoppers to shop with artists and craftsmen.
We highlight artists the first Sunday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29th this year), with the goal of increasing artists’ visibility on that day and the holiday shopping season.
Explain that to me again?
The Sunday after thanksgiving
Helping individual artists thrive.
Consider it this way: Black Friday is focused on retail, usually big, national retailers. Small Business Saturday is focused on small businesses. Cyber Monday is focused on online sales. Giving Tuesday is focused on charitable giving.
Artists Sunday highlights artists. We are a promotional effort focused exclusively on encouraging people to shop with artists during this time period.
What does Artists Sunday do then?
The Sunday after thanksgiving
Helping individual artists thrive.
We provide promotional support via direct public relations outreach to the national media during the fall holiday season telling shoppers they should purchase from artists that week (Thanksgiving week).
Additionally, all of our Partner members (non-profits organizations) have also agreed to provide promotional support.
In addition to public relations the national media, we provide Artists and Partners a downloadable digital packet, a toolkit if you will, that contains graphics, marketing text and directions, everything needed to participate in the Artists Sunday promotion.
How much does it cost?
The Sunday after thanksgiving
Helping individual artists thrive.
Participation is completely free to artists and non-profit organizations (Partner members), that are passionate about artists. We are exclusively funded by sponsors.
We do not get involved in artists transactions. We don’t take a commission from artists. We are not asking for money from anyone, except from our sponsors of course.

Who Qualifies as an Artist?
The Sunday after thanksgiving
Helping individual artists thrive.
Art is in the eye of the beholder. However, we classify artists as individuals who are creating original works, either physical or experiential.
You must be an original artist to participate as an Artist.
If you are selling artists’ works, but are not the artist, then you do not qualify as an artist for Artists Sunday. This includes: gallery owners, shops, retailers and ecommerce sites that sell artist works. All non-artist commercial companies are welcome to participate in our sponsor program.
September: Artists who are not already part of Artists Sunday, register to become members. (there is no deadline so later registrations are fine).
October: Artists Sunday Artists receive their turnkey marketing toolkit assets and planning materials.
November: Artists, utilizing their marketing toolkits, message consumers and the media through their available channels and networks.
Do I have to participate on the exact Date?
The Sunday after thanksgiving
Helping individual artists thrive.
No, you not have to host an event or conduct a promotion on the exact day and date of Artists Sunday. Just as major retailers offer Black Friday specials prior to that Friday, Artists Sunday participants are encouraged to offer promotions or an event when it best suits them. We fully expect Artists Sunday events and promotions to take place in and around that time period, not just exclusively on the actual day. Artists Sunday is all about putting artists in the spotlight.
Artists interested in signing up can do so here.
We’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and your art and we’ll also ask you to agree to our terms of participation.
